Ride review: A group of 5 showed up for this ride, TJ, GW, RD, TC, & GP. The weather was quite hot, but the roads on the route along many reservoirs and rivers along with a pretty reasonable pace kept us comfortable. We took a loop in Cold Spring, and we also took a quick detour up Bear Mountain. Seven Lakes drive was enjoyable with many curves and plenty of shade. We arrived at the Ren Faire and managed to find parking, (Free for bikes I might add, $5.00 for cars) After Roast Beast sandwiches and a Turkey leg, plus cool drinks we started to explore thy kingdom. We saw 2 Black Bears, and a porcupine. At one point we were verbally attacked by a vendor who wanted us to throw tomatoes at him. He asked us which of us was the "Power Bottom" and made fun of our attire. instead of being enraged, we were amused. Our return trip was interesting, I think we would have enjoyed the faire if the weather was 15 degrees cooler. I may plan a return trip before Sept 23rd.

OCTOBER 2007
Rick & Jerrys
Great Bar-B-Que Ride is Sunday
October 14th. Meeting time is 10:00 AM, Meeting location is The Saybrook Fishhouse in Canton CT.
Review:
The day started out at about 42 degrees, and it didn't get a whole lot warmer, although the barometer was over 30.0 and climbing, Ride Capt. Rick pulled over about 1 hour from Shaker Mountain to re-access the ride as the clouds where getting very dark, and clear skies where in the opposite direction. The group decided to head east before the sky opened up. Although we didn't have
Bar-B-Que, we all enjoyed hot soup with our meals as we warmed up. So much for Perforated Leather! BRRRR!
